Heinsberg is situated in the west of the German state Nordrhein-Westfalen, close to both the Netherlands and Belgium. As regards transport facilities, Heinsberg is conveniently placed between the cities of Düsseldorf (NE), Köln (E), Maastricht NL (SW), Lüttich B (SW), Antwerp B (W) und Eindhoven NL (NW). The international airports of Düsseldorf, Köln/Cologne, Liege (B) and Maastricht (NL) are within reach of about an hour's travel. Even connections to Bruxelles (B) and Amsterdam (NL) are pretty easy.

Using public transportation, Heinsberg can be reached via the railway stations of Erkelenz, Geilenkirchen, Roermond (NL) or Sittard (NL).

Participants of the main rounds of the competition are offered a pickup-service from the stations mentioned above and, upon consultation, from the airports around.
