Welcome at the International Guitar Festival Heinsberg! Four concerts on highest level and the 2^nd International Guitar Competition Heinsberg are the highlights of several events around the guitar.

Supported by leading guitarists, professors, editors and various institutions offering concert engagements, festival and competition do not only present a platform for the international elite of young guitarists every two years. Combining competition and first-class concerts with numerous projects over the year, integrating various local groups, the festival is a major cultural event for the people in the region of Heinsberg, situated right in the heart of Europe, at the borders of Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium.

The year 2005 saw festival's and competition's 1^st edition, celebrating the 750^th anniversary of the city of Heinsberg. Besides the extraordinarily high artistic level of 147 competitors from 42 nations and the fact, that almost all concerts have been sold out, it have been the people of Heinsberg, that made the festival a tremendous success. The hospitality of the host families and the enthusiasm and commitment of the people made it an experience to be remembered.

In 2007 again outstanding artists and personalities are supporting festival's and competition's second edition with great personal commitment in both concerts and jury work.
